ReadMe file for objects placed into the public domain by Gary Fenton. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 12th March 1995 Here are some 3d objects and bitmaps for LightWave which I have created myself because I couldn't find anything similar in the public domain! I made them out of necessity! You can use them in your own private or commercial animations providing you: a) credit me for creating the objects where possible b) put some objects of your own into the public domain in return :-) Feel free to modify the objects if you like. You may have to anyway! Some of them may need some extra work, like the airbrush object and the 1960 monitor. Some of the objects also require the fractal noise bitmap which is supplied with LightWave (3.5?) Here are the objects and the textures provided in this archive: 486-module - 486 CPU module for portable PCs. (486-circuit.iff, 486-cpu.iff) Airbrush - Artist's airbrush with paint. Silver casing needs some work. artbrush - Regular artist's brush. candle - Birthday candle with wick. candleflame - flame for birthday candle. Not animated yet. DIY! ;-) CD-real! - Real looking compact disc. (cd-map.iff) chain-ring - One steel chain link. Duplicate in modeler for your own chain. laserprinter - A generic laser printer (Lprinter-badge.iff, Lprinter-LCD.iff, Lprinter-brushes.iff) laserprinter-tray - Paper tray for laser printer. Just slot it in! monitor1960 - Commodore 1960 monitor. (monitor2-badge.iff, monitor2-bright.iff, monitor2-cont.iff, monitor2-OnOff.iff) Replace "Omnicom-screen.iff" with your own image for the monitor screen. padlock - simple padlock with texture. Use with chain-ring if you like. phonepole - Telephone pole (a UK one anyway!) Complete with cables, just duplicate end to end in Layout for your own telephone network! skydome - I use this as a giant dome to surround my scene for a simple sky with clouds. streetlight - Street light for cities etc. streetlightbeam - Light beam which disolves with distance for streetlight obj. tractorbeam - Animated tractor beam for space ships! The texture is animated but you must scale the object and create key frames to make the beam grow from a single point on your space ship. Add a simple lens flare from the point of origin and you've got a working tractor beam, a bit like Star Trek! :-) Enjoy. Gary Fenton - garygfx@cix.compulink.co.uk
